What ceiling insulation does

Warm air rises, and an under-insulated ceiling is one of the easiest places for a home to lose it. Ceiling insulation slows heat moving through the roof space, which helps keep your home warmer in winter and cooler on hot days.

We fit Knauf batts across the ceiling space of homes, businesses and schools. Before we start, we look at what is already up there, so you only pay for what the job needs.

It also helps keep your ceiling surfaces warmer, which means less condensation. It will not fix a leaking roof or replace good ventilation, and we will tell you if we spot something that needs attention first.

Who ceiling insulation suits

It is a good fit if any of these sound familiar.

  • Rooms that are hard to keep warm, or a heater that never seems to catch up.
  • Older homes where existing insulation has settled, been damaged or left gaps.
  • Homes with insulation in good, dry condition that may only need a top up.
  • Businesses and schools with an accessible ceiling space.
  • Landlords: we can help with the insulation your rental needs and arrange a Healthy Homes assessment for you.

How a ceiling job works

  1. Free consultation and assessment

Most assessments are done through our online system. For more complicated homes, or if you would rather, one of the team will come out to you.

  2. A clear, detailed quote

We tell you what is already in your ceiling, what we recommend, and what it costs, with no hidden fees.

  3. Install

We agree a start date and timeline that suit you. Most ceilings take 1 to 3 hours, and we work respectfully to keep disruption low.

  4. Final quality check

Once the batts are in, we do a comprehensive quality check before we hand the job back to you.

Top up or replace?

Insulation that is dry, secure and in good condition may be suitable to keep or top up. Wet, damaged or poorly installed insulation may need to be removed first.

An inspection shows which option makes sense, and we will explain it before you decide anything.

Ceiling insulation: common questions

Can't see your question? Give us a call.

How much does ceiling insulation cost?

As a guide, ceiling insulation is $1,600 to $2,000 for a 100m² home. Your quote depends on access and materials, so we quote each job and there are no hidden fees.

Which ceiling insulation do you use?

We fit Knauf batts. We use them across homes, businesses and schools.

What if my ceiling has old Insulfluff in it?

Old loose-fill insulation can be removed before the new insulation goes in. We check what is in your ceiling space at the assessment and tell you whether it can stay or should come out.

Do you insulate school and commercial ceilings?

Yes. We work on homes, businesses and schools, including laying insulation over a ceiling grid in a school classroom with the ceiling tiles going back in below it.
